The obligation to pay maintenance depends on the specific circumstances of the situation. In many cases, both parents are responsible for financially supporting their children, and this responsibility is not determined by gender. If the mother is the primary caregiver and the father is the primary breadwinner, the mother may be obligated to pay maintenance to support the children. However, if the father is the primary caregiver or if both parents share custody and have similar incomes, the mother may not be obligated to pay maintenance. Ultimately, the determination of maintenance obligations is based on the best interests of the children and the specific details of the family's situation. **

The separation maintenance for the mother is $500 per month. This amount is intended to cover the mother's living expenses and support her financially during the separation. It is important for the father to contribute to the mother's maintenance in order to ensure that she can continue to provide for herself and any children involved. **
